YOU TOLD US FIRST

Be Smart Be Safe is a Jobstown Community campaign developed in response to the changing drugs landscape and the needs of families.

It comes about because of research which told us that you are concerned about the changing drug scene in the area.

You also said that you would like more information to be able to have conversations with your family to help keep your kids and your home drug smart and safe.

Aware

Be Smart Be Safe aims to help you to be more aware about the substances that may be around our homes and community.

Every substance – from alcohol to painkillers, or from cigarettes to cannabis – has some effect on us.

Kids and Family

We have practical information on how you can talk to your children and the people you love about drugs to help keep them smart and safe. And that starts with us all as adults.

Everything your child learns about alcohol and drugs they learn from you first. The example you set is the most powerful message they will receive.

Mixing Drugs

Be Smart Be Safe looks the mix of drugs that available in our community and are often in our homes so that you can have a better understanding about what they do to our bodies and our brains. 

It also gives you places to go and information on what you can do if you have any questions or concerns.

Just ask

The more information you have the easier it is to have a good conversation in your home. There are lots of organisations with great information on alcohol, drugs, health, children, teenagers, or mental health for example.
